1984 First Untethered Spacewalk

1984 Official NASA "red letter" Photograph of astronaut Bruce McCandless venturing further away from the confines of his ship than any previous astronaut. This space first was made possible by a nitrogen jet propelled backpack, previously known at NASA as the Manned Manuevering Unit. This stunning orbital panorama view shows such.
